Progressive/cinematic metal quintet Disconnected Souls invite you into the depths of their haunting sound in “Symbiont”. Filmed in the atmospheric wine cellar of a historical Welsh estate, the dark and moody tone emanates from the underground stone setting. The band’s debut album Fragments Of Consciousness released in the beginning of this year, is now available to pre-order on CD format via Layered Reality Productions here.
Vocalist Patrick Lloyd comments on “Symbiont”:
“‘Symbiont’ is a track we started during the creation of our Warring Elements EP, left to wayside for years before we decided to tackle it again. With our newfound experience, I feel we did the track justice.
The idea behind ‘Symbiont’ lyrically is two entities forced to work together for their own ends, bound in one body, inseparable. During the writing process, I played a character in a DnD campaign who was in a symbiotic relationship with a ghost possessing him, and that character’s journey inspired the lyrics.
Instrumentally, this track is a favourite of mine from the Fragments of Consciousness album – rife with soaring synths and crushing dubstep-infused breakdowns.
We hope you enjoy the video; a grungy cellar shoot every metal band needs to film at some point – a rite of passage.”
